KOSU TO PARTNER GENDER MOBILE INITIATIVE ON CAMPUS SAFETY

The Kogi State University, Kabba is set to domesticate the Campus Safety Initiative Memorandum aimed at strengthening safety and protection within tertiary institutions.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor K.I.T. Eniola, received in audience the State Focal Person of Gender Mobile Initiative, Ms. Jimoh Saidat Ozohu, on Wednesday at the Senate Chamber of the University.

The proposed memorandum, when signed, will position KOSU among the growing number of tertiary institutions across the country that have adopted and domesticated the Campus Safety Initiative framework.

Speaking during the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation that the University Management would carefully consider the content of the Memorandum of Understanding with a view to accelerating its adoption in the institution.

Professor Eniola noted that gender-based offences are not limited to a particular gender, stressing that both male and female students and staff can be affected. He reiterated the University’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and conducive academic environment for all members of the University community.
