KSU Kabba: Governing Council Holds Maiden Meeting, Pays Courtesy Visit to Obaro, other Stakeholders
The newly inaugurated Governing Council of Kogi State University, Kabba has held its maiden meeting on the campus of the university to deliberate on critical decisions that will move the citadel of learning forward.
According to the spokesperson of the university Mr Tade Oshaloto, the Council is on a Week-long program in the school.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the Council and management paid courtesy call on the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi in his palace, the chairman of the Council, Professor Suleiman Sadiku said the governing council under his leadership would work harmoniously with the management led by Professor Kehinde Eniola to achieve the dreams of the stakeholders of the institution and be the best amongst its contemporaries.
The Pro-Chancelor further noted that the Council will among other engagements inspect and give thorough assessment on the infrastructural development, manpower, and to assist the management to carry out their day to day assignments without any hinderance.
He further stated that even though the institution is relatively young, it has a solid foundation in teaching, research and it is moving along with older universities like University of Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Sadiku further assured stakeholders that in no distant time it would be known globally.
Extolling the host community, the chairman noted that Okunland is blessed with individuals who have served as professors, technocrats and he was glad that many of them were ready to return home to offer their competences towards taking the university to a higher pedestal.
Speaking further, Council Chair said the support of the host community remained critical to the overall development of the institution hence the council and management decided to pay the Obaro of Kabba a courtesy visit to get the buy-in of the traditional institution and of the community.
Responding, Obaro assured them of the total cooperation and support of the community as they are not unaware of the enormous socio-economic benefits the institution would bring to the community with time.
He promised to do everything humanly possible to support the university to grow as education is the main occupation of the people of Okunland.
