Kwankwaso’s Political Success As Headaches To Many
By Abdulmalik Suleiman
It is generally true that once ascendancy in life attracts love and hate in equal. For some, it calls for joy while for others, these accomplishments attract unbridled hate.
These sum up the attitude of political gladiators to the continuous rise in profile of the National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
A political maverick and astute administrator, Kwankwaso has continued to confound his numerous traducers who have continued to wonder what are the factors propelling him to greatness.
These elements have the reasons to feel so, having failed to rise beyond pettiness and envy. Rather than study the phenomenon and adapt some of his strategies, they have become so enmeshed in their hate.
A cursory appraisal of the rise of the former Kano State Governor in politics as well as his accomplishments in politics will naturally necessitate some envy.
Apart from President Bola Tinubu who was his contemporary in 1999 as a governor of a state, no other politician of that era has continued to enjoy the kind of prominence Kwankwaso is enjoying today.
Like the president, the Kano born has continued to hold and control the affairs of Kano politics by playing pivotal roles at different times in the emergence of governors in the state.
Except for the two term interregnum of the Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau led government, Kwankwaso was instrumental to the emergence of his deputy, now the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the governor.
When the two fell apart, he re- strategized and return the incumbent, Engr. Kabir Yusuf who has continued to implement the developmental blueprints of the Kwankwassiya Movement in the state.
Kwankwaso’s influence and power is not limited to Kano alone, he had been a key figure in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and even in the APC before resuscitating the moribund NNPP which he unsuccessfully sought the presidency last year.
While in the PDP, he was appointed a minister in charge of the defense portfolio and he won a senatorial seat while in the APC. Still, he has continued to be relevant at home in Kano and the country at large.
Under the instrumentality of the NNPP, he is currently developing a blueprint for reworking the developmental trajectory of Nigeria to the path of progress.
The secret of Kwankwaso ‘s success in Kano is not farfetch, he is one politician who engage in politics of inclusiveness, rewards system and developmental.
It would interest you to note, that his younger brother Alh. Yahaya Musa Kwankwaso lost out to another aspirant for Madobi LGA chairmanship, in the just concluded NNPP Local government chairmen selections process.
Sen. Kwankwaso refused to interfere nor influence the process to favour his blood brother against an unknown aspirant in the race. This what he stand for and this is who he is.
While I will like to urge his traducers to sheath their sword and team up with him, it would also be good to point out to them too that too much bile and hatred does not do good for once health.
