Lokoja HoD Education receives NULGE award of most Friendly, Reliable HoD in Lokoja LGA,

— Says Award will spur her to be more committed to welfare of staff working under her and service to humanity

The Head of Department, (HoD), Education and Social Services, in Lokoja Local Government Area,
Hon. Sefiya Orahanoh Abubakar, has said the award of the most Friendly and Reliable HoD in the council from NULGE and the Joint Action Committee on LGA, will encourage her to be more committed to her job and the welfare of staff under her.

Hon. Sefiya who state this after receiving the award on Thursday at the council chamber of the Lokoja Local Government secretariat, expressed gratitude to the members of the National Union of Local Government Employees, (NULGE) and joint Action Committee, for the award, said she was overwhelmed.

The HoD noted that she never knew that the little she was doing is being noticed by the union and assured them of more support and contribution to the welfare of the people and the union.

“I’m overwhelmed by this show of love. The award came to me as surprise. I never knew that the little I was doing is being noticed. I want to assure you of my continued support to the union and recommit myself to humanitarian services to the people.

Hon. Safiya who was described by many speakers as a distinguished administrator, a philanthropist and a humanitarian par excellence who they said has contributed to the growth and progress of others, said she will always be positive in all her actions.

She dedicated the award to the Staff of the LGA, particularly the Education Department, and Ajaokuta LGA, even as she encouraged others to continue to do the little they can, saying people are watching all their steps and would be rewarded at the appropriate time .

In his welcome address, the Acting President of NULGE in Lokoja LGA, promised smooth working relationship with the management of the council, saying that the former Council Transition chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, has brought unity and team work to the local government.

He commended the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman for improved welfare package to the LG workers, particularly the payment of 100% salary to workers in the LGs.

The Chairman of the occasion,
Comrade Tom Abutu, former President of NULGE in the state, represented by Comrade Alhaji Jibril Congratulated the LG workers for the award .

He commended president Ahmed Bola Tinubu for granting the Local Government Autonomy, saying this will accelerate development and bring about competition among the councils in the state.

The president urged the workers to be more committed to their duties, saying to whom much is given much is expected.

The DLG Lokoja LGA, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, noted that what is happening is novel as it has never happened before, noting that it’s a thing of joy that workers could recognize the little they are doing and equally reward them through an award.

The DLG who is also an awardee, described Hon. Sefiya, HoD Education , as a workaholic lady who is very committed to her job, adding that She has been very supportive of all the activities in the Local Government.

He commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for ensuring prompt payment of salary to Local Government workers and other welfare packages, which he said has improved the living standard of the Staff.

The former CTC chairman of Lokoja LGA and candidate of the APC for the Local Government election slated for November 29, 2024 in Kogi, Hon Abdullahi Adamu who is also an awardee noted that the award will encourage him to do more for workers and the union when elected as substantive chairman.
