MD/CEO, Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Engr. George Olumoroti visits Kwara North Senatorial District for tour of the authority’s facilities

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Engr. Olumoroti George Olusola, has continued the tour of Area Offices and Project Offices within the Authority.

On Day 2, the tour focused on the Dam and farming schemes in Mose Gada and Kaiama, in Kwara North Senatorial zone.

The MD/CEO, accompanied by other Executive Management team members, paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mu’azu Shehu Omar, the Emir of Kaiama.

He thanked the Emir for his support to the Authority’s activities and sought continued support and cooperation.

The MD/CEO briefed the Emir on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and food security mandate, highlighting the Authority’s plans to upscale activities in the area, pointed out that the plans include aggressive irrigation, training of farmers on modern farming techniques, integrated farming approach, and onboarding of youths in agripreneur initiatives.

The team inspected the farming scheme in Kaiama and visited the newly constructed dam in Mose Gada. A cluster of farmers under the Water Users Association met with the team and thanked the Authority for constructing the dam, which has encouraged increased farming activities in the area.

The farmers requested assistance in further clearing more lands for farming and building of irrigation infrastructure for dry season farming.

Engr. Olumoroti emphasized President Tinubu’s determination to tackle food insecurity and assured the farmers of the Authority’s commitment to support their efforts.

He assured the farmers that the Authority would provide infrastructures and technical expertise to educate them on agriculture modernization and deployment of modern technology for optimal yield of farming produce.

The team concluded the Day 2 tour by paying a courtesy call on the Magaji of Mose Gada, seeking his cooperation and thanking him for his support.
