Mopa Traditional Council Suspends Adegbederin Day Celebration Over Security Concerns
The Mopa Traditional Council has suspended this year’s celebration of Mopa Adegbederin Day due to security challenges in Nigeria, despite no incidents being recorded in Mopa.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting held at Elulu’s Palace, Okedigba, Mopa, on December 17, 2025. The council, however, resolved to proceed with the traditional rites of the newly installed Traditional Chief on December 20 and 27, 2025, and a low-key thanksgiving service on December 28, 2025, with enhanced security measures.
The suspension is a precautionary measure, given the recent security occurrences in Yagba Federal Constituency. The council urged all stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies to ensure the safety of the community.
The resolution was signed by HRH (Oba) Olushola Agbaje-Williamsce, Chairman of the MTC Admin Committee and Oba of Okeguru-Mopa.
