Mopamuro 2027: Accord Party Adopts Babarinde Oloke as Consensus Candidate for State Assembly

Hon. Babarinde Oloke has emerged as the consensus candidate of the Accord Party for the Mopamuro State Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 Kogi State House of Assembly election.

Oloke was adopted during the party’s primary election held at the Accord Party Secretariat in Lokoja, where delegates and stakeholders unanimously endorsed his candidature in what party leaders described as a peaceful and transparent exercise.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were said to have monitored the primary, which party members noted complied with the provisions of the Electoral Act.

Speaking shortly after his emergence, Oloke expressed appreciation to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, assuring the people of Mopamuro of quality representation and grassroots-focused leadership if elected.

“I am sincerely grateful for the trust and support given to me by members of our great party. This victory belongs to every stakeholder and supporter of the Accord Party in Mopamuro. Together, we will work to deliver meaningful development and responsive representation for our people,” he said.

The Kogi State Chairman of the Accord Party, Hon. Ilyas Badanga, described the outcome of the primary election as a demonstration of unity and internal democracy within the party.

According to him, the decision to adopt Oloke as the consensus candidate followed extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders across the constituency.

“Hon. Babarinde Oloke has shown commitment, leadership capacity, and the qualities required to represent the people effectively. The Accord Party remains committed to presenting credible candidates capable of delivering democratic dividends to the electorate,” Badanga stated.

Also speaking, the State Secretary of the party, Comrade Isaiah Temitope Felix, commended members for the orderly conduct that characterized the exercise, urging party supporters to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The peaceful atmosphere witnessed during this primary election is a reflection of the maturity and preparedness of the Accord Party for the political process ahead,” he said.

The State Youth Leader of the party, Monday Wasa, described Oloke’s emergence as a positive development for young politicians and grassroots participation in Mopamuro politics.

He assured that the youth wing of the party would intensify mobilization efforts across wards and polling units to ensure victory for the Accord Party during the election.

On her part, Ogbedu Gold Princess Treasure congratulated the candidate and applauded the leadership of the party for conducting what she described as a transparent and rancour-free primary process.

Similarly, the State Organizing Secretary of the party, A.A. Mahamud, said the successful conduct of the primary election further demonstrated the readiness of the Accord Party for the 2027 electoral contest in Kogi State.

He assured members that the party would continue strengthening its grassroots structures across the state to enhance mobilization and coordination ahead of the polls.

Party supporters and stakeholders who attended the exercise also praised the peaceful conduct of the primary election, describing it as a significant step toward consolidating the Accord Party’s presence in Mopamuro Constituency.

Oloke’s emergence is expected to further shape political activities within the constituency as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections in Kogi State.
