MOPAMURO LOKAN ( A MANTRA BEYOND SECTIONAL AGITATION).

The mantra of “Mopamuro Lokan” is a deliberate action and conscious efforts to break the shackles and shambles of political inequality that has besieged and throng our political terrain with emphasis on “Yagba Federal Constituency” comprising of Yagba West, Yagba East and Mopamuro LGA’s respectively.

One of the core moral principles of democracy’s normative foundation is political equality.

Regrettably, systemic exclusion of Mopamuro LGA manifests in political inequality and it is due to this that citizenry advocates and push for a normative and egalitarian representation in our political landscape and this decision resemble citizens preferences.

Democracy is defined by principles of political equality within the core idea of political citizenry, as such the unanimous decision and clamour to zone the next House of Representatives ticket to Mopamuro LGA.

Therefore, maintaining the status quo serves as a weak point in the foundation of democracy and our rotational arrangement.

It is almost impossible to dichotomized between equity and equality but the difference do actually exist. Equality is everyone getting the same thing while equity is everyone getting the things they deserve. Have these political tenets been upheld in Yagba Federal Constituency?

The principle of equity, fairness and justice do not change with the calendar, do they?

History and conscience both demand that the next House of Representatives Seat for Yagba Federal Constituency returns to Mopamuro LGA.

Recall, since our democratic journey began in 1999, representation within Yagbaland has rotated amongst the three (3) local government areas.

It is on record that Mopamuro LGA occupied the coveted seat of the Yagba Federal House Of Representatives from 1999- 2003 (4years ),with Hon. Olorunshola Ojo as the member and since then the local government has not been privileged to occupy the seat.

Equally, after Hon. Shola Ojo, Hon. Joseph Tolorunju Faniyi of Yagba East LGA took over the mantle from 2003-2007 (4 years).

In 2007-2011, Hon. Samuel Bamidele Aro of Yagba West took over the leadership of the constituency for another (4 years).

2011- 2019 Hon. Steve Sunday Karimi of Yagba West retained the seat for another (8 years), completing a total of (12 years) of representation from Yagba West.

2019- 2027, By 2027, Hon. Leke Abejide would have completed (8 years) of representation for Yagba Federal Constituency, added his 8 years to the tenure of Hon. Tolorunju Faniyi of Yagba East amounts to (12 years) of representation by Yagba East LGA from 1999.

That is to say, Mopamuro has spent 4 years,Yagba West 12 years and Yagba East 12 years since 1999 till 2027. Therefore, for equity, fairness and justice Mopamuro should also take their turn of 8 years to make it; Mopamuro, Yagba East and Yagba West 12:12:12 years.

Unarguably, in previous political dispensation, Mopamuro LGA supported power rotation to both Yagba East and Yagba West and we further humbly plead that our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, friends and well wishers from the other local government reciprocate the gesture.

Therefore, it is imperative to unravel the political mysteries and painstakingly address the injustice, marginalization and disparities or discrepancies
in Yagba Federal Constituency by zoning the House of Representatives Seat to Mopamuro Local Government Area.

Thank you.
