Navy Commodore Godwin Obaje Bags Humanitarian Service Award at 13th Arise Igala Leadership Awards

The National Secretary-General of Ukomu- Igala, a socio-cultural organization in Igala Kingdom, Navy Commodore Godwin Obaje, has been honored with a Humanitarian Service Award.
The award was presented to the retired naval officer alongside other distinguished sons and daughters of the Igala Kingdom, as well as notable individuals from other ethnic nationalities, during the 13th Arise Igala Magazine Leadership Awards and Lecture held on May 30, 2026, at Reiz Continental Hotel in Abuja.
The Humanitarian Service Award recognized Commodore Obaje’s outstanding contributions to philanthropy, community development, and human capital development within the Igala Kingdom. The organizers noted that his efforts have positively impacted many lives and contributed significantly to the growth and welfare of his community.
The award also acknowledged his distinguished career in the Nigerian military, characterized by patriotism, loyalty, and exemplary service. His professional achievements were described as a source of inspiration to younger generations of Igala sons and daughters.
Earlier, the Convener and Publisher of Arise Igala Magazine, Onoja Okpanachi, stated that the platform was established to promote Igala cultural identity and heritage while fostering unity and cohesion among the Igala people and other ethnic nationalities across Nigeria. He added that the awards were designed to celebrate hard work, excellence, professionalism, and outstanding service to society.
Speaking exclusively to journalists after receiving the honor, Commodore Obaje expressed gratitude to the organizers for the recognition. He described the award as a mark of honor and an acknowledgment of his contributions to both the Igala Kingdom
and the Nigerian nation.
According to him, the recognition serves as motivation to continue supporting humanitarian causes and initiatives that promote community development and national progress.
