NDC Elevates Moses Okorie as Assistant Publicity Secretary Position

KEHINDE AKINPELU ILORIN

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has moved to strengthen its grassroots structure in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with the elevation of former Acting Chairman of Garki Ward in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Moses Okorie, as Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party in the FCT.

The development followed a strategic meeting of the Garki Ward and FCT Reconciliation Community held on Saturday at the NDC national headquarters in Wuse II, Abuja.

The meeting was attended by party leaders, ward executives and supporters, including the NDC leader in the FCT and the party’s senatorial candidate, Barrister Amanda Pam.

Following a nomination by Pam and with the concurrence of other state executives present, Okorie was admitted into the FCT Working Committee and also emerged as the party leader in Garki Ward.

The party said the appointment was part of ongoing efforts to consolidate its structures, promote inclusion and strengthen its mobilisation and communication machinery ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Okorie, a journalist, said he would bring his professional experience, media contacts and grassroots relationships to bear in promoting the party’s programmes and candidates across the FCT.

He also pledged to work closely with the FCT Publicity Secretary, Pastor Samuel Iloh, to develop a stronger publicity network capable of effectively communicating the party’s message to residents of the territory.

“I appreciate Barrister Amanda Pam for the confidence reposed in me. I will use my connections as a journalist to propagate the activities of the NDC across the FCT and work hand-in-hand with my immediate boss, Pastor Samuel Iloh,” Okorie said.

He assured the party leadership that he would justify the confidence placed in him and remain committed to advancing the interests of the NDC.

Meanwhile, Dr Okechukwu Ironkwe has emerged as the new Chairman of Garki Ward, alongside other members of the ward executive.

As part of the transition process, Okorie formally handed over the ward’s membership register and other administrative records to Ironkwe.

Party members said the restructuring would improve coordination at the ward level and provide a stronger platform for grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Members of the ward subsequently reaffirmed their commitment to the NDC and pledged to mobilise support for the party’s candidates.

They declared their backing for Hassan Grema, the NDC candidate for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency; Amanda Pam, the party’s senatorial candidate; as well as the presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The latest changes, according to party stakeholders, underscore the NDC’s determination to strengthen its grassroots presence in the FCT and build a more effective political structure ahead of the 2027 polls.

The party leadership has asked members to deepen unity, expand mobilisation, and take its message directly to voters across the Federal Capital Territory.
