#NewNiger : From 2 Years Dairy of Activities – #Civil Service Reform, Workers’ Welfare and Job Creation
*Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has placed the civil service at the center of governance reform. From implementing a ₦80,000 minimum wage to employing over 3,000 Nigerlites, automating pension records, and ensuring regular pension payments with ongoing clearance of inherited gratuities in billions, his administration has restored dignity to workers and retirees alike. By absorbing retirees into health insurance schemes and exiting overdrafts as a mode of salary payment, Governor Bago has ensured financial stability and predictability for families across the state.*
Aside from the recruitment of 3,000 workers and conversion of many casual workers to permanent staffs, the ongoing infrastructural development projects across Niger State have created over 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, thereby expanding our economy across all the 25 local government areas, while thousands of employment have been created through the Agricultural revolution for food security.
Mr Governor has also prioritized the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), skills acquisition, social investment, women empowerment, and support for market women and traders. In addition, he has successfully implemented three rounds of palliative programs to subsidize the cost of food and other essential commodities for the people.
Sai BAGO… Towards a sustainable Niger for all
