NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT TO CONTINUE TO WORK CLOSELY WITH NGOs TO EQUIP YOUTH ACQUIRE REQUISITE SKILLS & TRAINING
Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has said that his administration will continue to work closely with Non Governmental Organisations in order to equip the youth with requisite training and skills to enable them contribute to Nation building.
The Farmer Governor stated this during the presentation of Scholarship awards to 105 Student beneficiaries of the General Ibrahim Attahiru Foundation at the Government House Minna.
Farmer Umaru Bago who expressed the State Government’s commitment to continue to partner with NGOs and Institutions to educate and train the youth described late Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru as a great man who has left behind a lasting legacy.
He said the State Government is proud to be associated with the Foundation created by the wife of the late former Chief of Army Staff and used the forum to call on beneficiaries of the scholarship award to endeavour to work hard and aspire to become great.
He applauded the foundation for putting its best to select the best brains among the children and dependents of Military personnel urging people to always see how they can find a way to sow seeds of blessings on people’s lives, while acknowledging the vision of the NGO in uplifting young minds.
In her remarks, the Wife of the Late Former Chief Of Army Staff, Hajiya Fati Attahiru disclosed that the Launch of the scholarship program 6 months ago is geared towards supporting the dependents of military personnel and other eligible youth to acquire knowledge with 105 beneficiaries in the first batch.
She appreciated the support from the Nigerian Army and the Government of Niger State adding that the decision to choose the Armed forces remembrance day to present the awards was to honour those who paid the supreme price for peace to reign in the Country.
She also recounted the massive support the Foundation got from the immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tauheed Lagbaja
saying, she always reflects on
the virtues of fallen heroes and the sacrifices they made while reminding people that everyone has a duty to play in giving back to the society in every little way possible.
Maj. Gen. Muhammad Dahiru Danja who represented the Chief of Army Staff described the initiative as a continuous legacy of the late Gen. Attahiru who made a great impact within the short time he served as Chief of Army Staff.
He said the idea of a foundation on his behalf is a welcome development describing him as a thorough leader that deserves to have legacies that will outlive him adding that, the Nigerian Army will always support the foundation achieve its goals.
The acting Vice Chancellor, IBBU Lapai, Prof Hassan Ibrahim who spoke on behalf of all beneficiary Institutions appreciated the Foundation for its noble idea of supporting young ones acquire knowledge while also acknowledging Farmer Governor Bago for setting the pace in terms of Scholarship to Students as he has already supported over 5,000 students in the institution
One of the beneficiaries of the scholarship program, Yakubu Abdulsamad who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated the Foundation for the gesture and expressed gratitude to the Farmer Governor for being instrumental in their pursuit for knowledge.
The event featured symbolic presentation of scholarship awards to the beneficiaries by the Farmer Governor who was also honoured with an award of recognition by the General Ibrahim Attahiru Foundation for his tremendous support.
