NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT TO PARTNER FEDERAL MORTGAGE BANK TO ADDRESS HOUSING DEFICIT

Niger State Governor, farmer Umaru Bago says his administration will partner Federal Mortgage Bank and other relevant agencies in housing development with a view to addressing housing deficit in the Country.

Farmer Umaru Bago emphasized the need for the institution to chose viable sites for housing development to ensure effective service delivery.

Speaking on the funds allegedly owed the Bank, farmer Umaru Bago said his administration created a sinking fund when he assumed Office with a view to clearing the debt.

While appreciating the Managing Director of the Bank and his team for the visit, he however promised to beam searchlights on the debt to find the details surrounding it.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Shehu Usman Osidi said the financial institution is keen on deepening the institutional partnership with the State Government in order to promote affordable home ownership for Nigerians adding that, the Bank has financed and delivered over 700 Housing Units through 12 different housing projects worth N3.7 billion.

He added that the Institution is presently offering two housing projects to the State for outright purchase Intended to provide immediate housing solutions for the state workforce in addition to the disbursement of over N2 billion to civil servants through home renovation loan scheme for 2,420 beneficiaries.

Usman Osidi equally highlighted other numerous housing Schemes that are designed to serve the needs of low and medium income earners as the Institution remains committed to partnering with the administration of the farmer governor in actualizing his vision of improving the living standards of the citizens.
