Fellow Nigerians,
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, warmly felicitates with all Nigerians at home and abroad on the occasion of the 66th Independence Anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
As our great nation marks this important milestone, we must remember with gratitude the sacrifices, courage and determination of our founding fathers and all Nigerians who contributed to the struggle for independence and to the development of our country over the past 66 years.
Our independence represents more than freedom from colonial rule. It is a continuing responsibility to build a nation founded on unity, justice, peace, equality, tolerance, democratic values and shared prosperity.
Over the past six decades, Nigeria has recorded significant achievements in education, infrastructure, science and technology, agriculture, telecommunications, democratic governance and human development. At the same time, we continue to face challenges that require collective courage, responsible leadership and the active participation of every citizen.
At this critical stage of our national journey, we must strengthen our commitment to peaceful coexistence and reject violence, hatred, division and all forms of criminality. Our diversity remains one of Nigeria’s greatest assets, and we must continue to see ourselves first as Nigerians, regardless of ethnic, religious, political or regional differences.
We must also support initiatives that create opportunities for our young people, empower women, strengthen education and skills development, promote agriculture and entrepreneurship, and expand employment opportunities. The future of Nigeria depends greatly on the ability of the present generation to create a better environment for those coming after us.
I am confident that with unity, resilience, patriotism and faith in our collective capacity, Nigeria can overcome its present difficulties and achieve greater economic prosperity, security and social development.
Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Federal Government continues to pursue policies and reforms aimed at addressing the country’s economic and developmental challenges. The success of these efforts, however, requires constructive engagement, understanding and cooperation from citizens, institutions, businesses, civil society and all levels of government.
Independence Day therefore provides an opportunity not only to celebrate our past but also to renew our commitment to the Nigeria we desire—a nation where justice prevails, opportunities are accessible, security is strengthened, institutions are respected, and every citizen can look to the future with hope and confidence.
Let us therefore celebrate this anniversary with peace, patriotism and renewed determination to contribute positively to our nation’s development. Every Nigerian has a role to play in building a stronger, more united and prosperous country.
As we celebrate 66 years of independence, may God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria, protect her people, strengthen our leaders and grant our nation peace, stability and sustainable development.
Happy 66th Independence Anniversary to all Nigerians.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Long live Nigeria!
