Nike Davies Okundaye Endorses OLOPE Initiative, Pledges Support for Kogi State Arts Development
Lagos, Nigeria – Renowned artist and art patron, Her Royal Highness Dr. Nike Davies Okundaye, has thrown her weight behind the OLOPE initiative, praising the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ododo in promoting arts and culture in Nigeria, particularly in Kogi State.
The OLOPE team, on a three-day visit to Lagos, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Okundaye at her esteemed Nike Art Gallery in Lekki, where they were warmly received.
The team briefed her on the aims and objectives of the OLOPE initiative, which resonated deeply with her, prompting her to offer enthusiastic support.
During the meeting, Dr. Okundaye disclosed that she would preside over the grand opening of the Federal University Lokoja Art Gallery on February 9, 2026.
She also expressed her desire to establish a world-class arts gallery in Lokoja, pending the allocation of suitable land.
Kogi State’s General Manager of the Tourism Board, Hon. Orebiyi, assured Dr. Okundaye of the state’s support, promising to facilitate the allocation of land for the project.
The State Security Adviser also confirmed that Governor Ododo would personally attend and commission the FUL Nike Arts Gallery on February 9, 2026.
Dr. Okundaye’s endorsement is seen as a significant boost to the OLOPE initiative and Kogi State’s arts development efforts.
The event has generated excitement among art enthusiasts, with many looking forward to the grand opening of the FUL Nike Arts Gallery.
