NIPR PRESIDENT CHARGES MEMBERS ON PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE AND INTEGRITY

Public Relations Practitioners in Nigeria have been urged to be passionate about their profession and make integrity their watch word.

The President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Dr. Ike Neliaku gave the charge in Ilorin, during an Interactive Session with Public Relations Practitioners in Kwara State.

Dr Neliaku who was on a two day visit to Kwara State, observed that no Public Relations Practitioner can attain professional excellence, without being passionate about the profession and avoid act capable of putting his career and his integrity into disrepute.

The NIPR President who blamed the country’s current travails on bad communication practice, disclosed that the Institute, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation has designed a number of strategic programmes aimed at restoring the glory and integrity of the nation, pointing out that the NIPR is a platform for national prominence, with a global reputation for excellence.

He assured that the Institute under his watch would be committed towards enhancing the well being of its members and
strengthen it to be a valuable asset for all.

In her remark, a visibly elated member of NIPR Governing Council from Kwara State, Dr Saudat Salah- Abdulbaqi noted with delight the innovation that has been brought to the governance of the Institute under the current leadership, within a short period of its inauguration.

Also speaking, a Fellow of the Institute, Special Advisor and Counselor to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Saadu Salaudeen said the state government was delighted over a number of initiatives that have been designed by NIPR under the current President, which he noted were aimed at rejuvenating and reinventing the nation and expressed the willingness of the state government in partnering with the Institute in ensuring the actualisation of the strategic initiatives.

Earlier, in his address of welcome,the acting chairman of the Kwara State chapter of NIPR, Mr Gbenga Ishola had said the chapter has been in the mainstream of NIPR, under the leadership of Dr Neliaku and praised him for creating time, to visit the state.

The interactive session, which afforded members the opportunity to have strategic engagement with the President and some members of the Governing Council was attended by members of the state Executive Council, ,Fellows of the Institute, Veterans,University lecturers, Public Relations Practitioners in both public and private establishments, Mass Communication Students in tertiary institutions in the state and Media Executives including the General Managers of Radio Kwara, .

Highlight of the occasion was the decoration of the President with the State’s indigenous Aso Ofi attire and cap by the Council member from the state,Dr Saudat Salah – Abdulbaqi.
