The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol nationwide.
However, the Federal Government denied a report that the Ministry of Petroleum Resources had ordered the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to sell fuel at ₦1,000 per litre.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser, Media and Communication, to the Minister for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, Nnemaka Okafor, on Tuesday.
It said the FG declared that the report was concocted and ill-conceived to sow discord and confusion in the oil industry.
The Democracy correspondent who went around Kano metropolis on Tuesday confirmed the increase in pump price of petrol at NNPCL filling stations.
At the NNPCL filling station at Hotoro, Nasarawa local government area, Kano, fuel is now officially sold at N904 per litre.
Although despite the increase in the pump price , the filling station was not dispensing to the public , except to those that they know as there was a long queue of motorists.
”This is unfortunate, even with the increase in the pump price to N904 per litre, they are just allowing those they know to buy fuel. We have been here for over two hours,” said one of the motorists on queue.
