Oba Ibeun: Tête-À-Tête As Oba Ibeun Restructures Mopa Youth

The Elulu of Mopa and Chairman Mopamuro Traditional Council, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun has met with the Mopa youth leaders on a tête-à-tête discussion.

Oba Ibeun said he has called on the youth of the community to have a critical discussion with them, listen to their advises and hear their opinions on how to involve them in moving the community forward.

The monarch in conclusion with the youth leaders also modified the structure and mode of emergence after lots of deliberations.

During his remark, he likened the recently held clan/family heads meeting to the youth meeting, that the business of community development takes the effort of all arms and members of the community, and the youth arm is pivotal.

Oba Ibeun noted that there are reports on his table concerning the lack of youthful activities in the community, also the issue of the demography of those that are the youth leaders of the community.

Some of the youth leaders agreed that they may be older in age truly, but those in the real youthful demography are not displaying capability and responsibility for the assignment of a youth leader.

They added that most youth are lazy, while they also raised the issue of drugs abuse and open smoking of indian hemp and other hard drugs.

They gave incite of critical selfless responsibilities some of them engaged in that majority of the youth in the demography category won’t and can’t engage in because of their laziness, and involvement in alcohol abuse, drug abuse and hard drugs.

They also expressed that being a youth leader isn’t one that is juicy, which no regular youth wants to be involved in, adding that being a community youth leader requires more of selflessness, passion and service.

Other contributors in the meeting said some experiences are needed to take on the responsibilities of a youth leader.

Issues concerning need for job and empowerment for youths were also discussed, as Oba Ibeun assured them of positive development, adding that all he needs is their support.

Oba Ibeun declared a new organogram, demography and nomenclature structure for the community youth. With experienced persons at not lesser than over 40 years of age as Youth Supervisors and Secretaries, and they must have served as youth leaders at their respective community to qualify to be supervisors. The youth supervisors will be on a non renewable tenure of 5 years.

According to Oba Ibeun during the meeting, the modification will have youth supervisors and Secretaries for Mopa generally, Odole and Ilteju Zones respectively; while the age to be youth leaders for the respective eight sub communities will not be older than 38 years for a renewable 2 years.

It was also concluded during the meeting and ratified by Oba Ibeun that there will be Youth Week by December when elections will be held and new set of persons will represent the youth community, after which all decisions taken on demography, tenureship etc will take effect.

Elulu of Mopa, Oba Ibeun earlier asked questions if there are tenure for the youth leadership; answers were given; decisions were taken and are being taken and executed.

The members of incumbent representative of the youth leaders and representative remains but structured as declared by the monarch and they are;

Hon. Kunle Oye – General Supervisor, Mopa; Elder Jide Omosaiye – General Secretary; Mr. Moses Adebayo – Supervisor, Odole; and Mr. Sunday Aworo Ileteju.

Other youth leaders are Segun Samuel – Okeguru; Solomon Elewa – Okedagun; Kehinde Ife – Adogbe; Kehinde George – Ayinaku; Omokore John Tope – Patia; Osho John Abiodun – Ilegemo; Ajakaiye Leke Olorunju – Ikeji; and Faje Oluwatosin Abiodun – Ijagbe.

The Odole and Ileteju zones have their secretaries as Moses Tope and Osho John Abiodun respectively.

The Elulu Policies and Project Implementation Committee (EPPIC) were also present at the meeting.
