Press Release:
Odo-Ape Community Youths Call for Action on Rising Security Concerns
The Youths of Odo-Ape Community have strongly rejected claims that the ongoing crisis in the area is politically orchestrated. Contrary to these allegations, the community continues to grapple with escalating security challenges, including repeated incidents of kidnapping that have left residents fearful and concerned for their safety.
A recent kidnapping incident in Odo-Ape saw the abduction of a serving councilor from the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, along with eight other individuals. Despite the severity of this crime, the community has not received any visit, communication, or delegation from the Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government. This is not an isolated case; another similar kidnapping occurred just a week prior, highlighting the alarming frequency of such incidents.
Rather than engaging in unfounded political accusations, the community urges the Chairman to focus on addressing the pressing security issues in the local government, particularly in Odo-Ape. The question on the minds of the community youth is: When was the last time the Chairman visited the areas affected by kidnappings within the local government, especially in the Bunu axis.
As the number one security officer of the local government, the Chairman’s role is to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. The Youths of Odo-Ape are asking: How many places has the Chairman visited since the escalation of the kidnapping crisis in Bunu. When was the last time the Chairman took the time to visit the community he was elected to protect.
True leadership requires acknowledgment of the concerns of the people and a proactive approach to ensuring their safety. A responsible leader takes ownership of the security situation and works hand-in-hand with the community to prevent further incidents.
The Youths of Odo-Ape call on the Chairman to take immediate action, engage with the community, and prioritize the safety of the residents. Together, we can work towards creating a secure environment for all.
Signed:
Hon. Paul Obamoh,
Community Youths Leader
