A former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Lazarus Ogbee, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Ebonyi Central Senatorial seat, bringing the number of contenders to four.
Ogbee, who previously represented Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, joined the race alongside the incumbent Senator Kenneth Eze, Hon. Chris Usulor, and Chief Christian Asaga.
His entry is expected to intensify competition in the zone, given his longstanding political influence and experience across various levels of governance.
In his declaration, Ogbee said his ambition is driven by a strong commitment to public service and the desire to provide effective representation for the people of Ebonyi Central at the National Assembly.
“With a deep sense of responsibility and unwavering commitment to the progress of our people, I hereby formally declare my intention to contest for the position of Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he stated.
He noted that his decision is rooted in his belief that the zone deserves experienced, effective, and people-oriented leadership.
Ogbee highlighted his political track record, which includes serving as Coordinator of a Development Centre, two-term Local Government Chairman, Member of the House of Representatives, and Commissioner. According to him, these roles have provided him with a solid understanding of governance, grassroots development, and legislative duties.
“Over the years, I have been privileged to serve our people in various capacities—as Coordinator of a Development Centre, two-term Chairman of a Local Government Area, Member of the House of Representatives, and Commissioner. These experiences have equipped me with a deep understanding of governance, grassroots development, and legislative responsibility. I am committed to leveraging this wealth of experience to attract meaningful development, strengthen our voice at the national level, and deliver tangible results for every community in Ebonyi Central”.
“I humbly call on all stakeholders, party faithful, and the good people of our zone to join me in this journey to build a stronger, more united, and prosperous Ebonyi Central”.
