The Ogidi-Omo Movement has announced the suspension of all its empowerment programmes until further notice, following the sudden demise of the All Progressives Congress, APC Chairman in Ijumu Local Government Area, Hon. Mayowa Solomon Oyewole.
In a statement issued on Saturday, 22nd August 2026 and signed by the Convener of the Movement, Dr. Funsho Olumoko, the group described the death of Hon. Oyewole as a “great and shocking loss” to Ijumu LGA, the APC family, and the entire Kogi West Senatorial District.
Dr. Olumoko said the late APC chairman was a pillar of support to the Ogidi-Omo Movement and a dependable leader who believed in youth development, community service and grassroots mobilization.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the suspension of all Ogidi-Omo Movement empowerment activities earlier scheduled to hold in Ekinrin-Adde, Aiyetoro-Gbede and Ogidi communities until further notice. This decision is due to the sudden and painful demise of our brother and leader, Hon. Mayowa Solomon Oyewole, the APC Chairman, Ijumu LGA,” the statement read.
“Hon. Oyewole was more than a party chairman. He was a mentor, a mobilizer, and a friend of the people. His commitment to the progress of Ijumu and to the ideals of the APC will be sorely missed.”
The Movement commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased, the APC leadership in Ijumu and Kogi State, and the people of Ijumu over the irreparable loss.
Dr. Olumoko prayed to Almighty God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and to give the family and party members the fortitude to bear the loss.
He urged members of the Ogidi-Omo Movement and the general public to remain calm and continue to uphold the legacies of unity, service and community development that Hon. Oyewole stood for.
The statement concluded: “May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
