Okun Development Initiative Organizes Okun Nation’s Summit to chat a way forward
The Okun Development Initiative (ODI) is convening a summit to chat the way forward for the Okun nation, says with the mirage of challenges which is not limited to the insecurity that have continued to plaque the area in the recent time, infrastructure deficit, human capacity development, economic development, education, health and other social amenities that have eluded the people need to be addressed.
The summit will be the Second edition wherein the group will be championing the development of the entire zone, a strategic gathering aimed at fostering unity, collaboration, and sustainable development among the Okun people.
Theme: “Okun Unite: The Power of One Voice, The Strength of Many Hands”
The event is scheduled to hold from 30th to 31st May 2025, at the Olonijola Event Center, Kabba, the administrative Headquarters of Okunland, the summit will commence daily at 9:00 AM. This pivotal event will bring together traditional leaders, policy makers, youth representatives, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders across the Okun communities to deliberate on the shared future and collective progress of the region.
The summit will be held under the distinguished chairmanship of General Funsho Owonibi (Rtd.), a respected leader and advocate for national development, whose presence underscores the importance of purposeful dialogue and leadership in shaping a prosperous Okunland.
Objectives of the Summit include:
Strengthening communal bonds across Okun-speaking communities.
Promoting a unified voice for regional advocacy and political representation.
Encouraging youth empowerment, economic initiatives, and education.
Developing a blueprint for infrastructure and socio-economic development.
The Okun Nation’s Summit serves as an avenue to harness the collective strength, cultural heritage, and aspirations of the Okun people for shared growth and development.
