One Year Reign: Elulu of Mopa, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun’s Journey So Far

By Olugbemi Femi – Lokoja

It will be one year in the next few days since His Royal Majesty, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun ascended to the throne of his forefathers as the Elulu of Mopa and Chairman, Mopamuro Local Government Traditional Council.

During this period, it is evidently clear that the monarch has worked tirelessly to promote the development and well-being of his people.

However, some of the notable achievements of his reign include initiatives to improve infrastructure, enhance community engagement, and foster economic growth.

The ongoing rehabilitation of the Mopa section of the Kabba – Egbe – Ilorin federal road is not without his concerted efforts that make the section motorable for commuters lately and also the ongoing construction of the Mopa township road by Kogi State Government

The reconnection of the community to the national grid has enhanced the electricity supply to the area with the assurance that the community will continue to cooperate and collaborate with the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to enjoy a steady power supply.

The smooth take-off of the Kogi State College of Education Technical, Mopa, which was relocated from Kabba and currently hosts the Kogi State University main campus, is also part of the achievements by sponsoring over a hundred Mopamuro indigenes in the college.

He has also prioritized cultural preservation and development, ensuring the rich heritage of Mopa is protected and celebrated like the maiden edition of Mopa Adegbederin hosted last December, 2024.

Oba Ibeun’s leadership has positively impacted the community, with many residents appreciating his efforts to address pressing issues like road, electricity, water supply, education and improve their quality of life. His approachability and willingness to listen have helped build trust between the monarch and his subjects.

Therefore, despite progress, challenges remain. Oba Ibeun continues to work towards overcoming these hurdles, focusing on sustainable development and the betterment of Mopa land.

His vision for the future includes further economic empowerment, improved infrastructure, and enhanced social services.

As His Royal Majesty, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun ready to marks his one-year milestone come May 16 and 17, the people of Mopa look forward to continued progress and prosperity under his leadership. His dedication to the community’s growth and development has set a positive tone for his reign.

It is important for the people of the community to continue to give his leadership the needed support and cooperation to stair the ship of the community to a greater height that will place Mopa land on higher pedestal progress among comity of communities within Okun nation
