OPEN LETTER OF APPEAL

To His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR),
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Abuja.

And His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo,
Executive Governor of Kogi State,
Lokoja, Kogi State.

AN URGENT APPEAL FOR SECURITY INTERVENTION IN BUNU LAND

We, the Bunu Elite Club on behalf of sons and daughters of Bunu land, are writing to bring to your attention the grave security situation that has engulfed our communities. The incessant killings, kidnappings, and banditry have reached alarming levels, leaving our people traumatized and our communities deserted.

As predominantly farmers, our farm lands are the backbone of our economy. However, these lands have now become places of fear, and we can no longer visit them without risking our lives. The threat of bandits and kidnappers has forced many of our people to flee their homes, leaving their livelihoods behind.

THE SITUATION IS DIRE

– Our people are being killed, kidnapped, and harassed with impunity.
– Many communities in Bunu land are deserted, and our people are living in constant fear.
– Our farm lands lie fallow, and our economy is on the brink of collapse.
– The security situation has led to a significant decline in economic activities, and our people are struggling to survive.

WE APPEAL TO YOU

We humbly appeal to you, Mr. President, and His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, to take immediate action to address this security challenge. We urge you to:

– Deploy more security personnel to Bunu land to restore peace and security.
– Provide adequate support to our local security agencies to enable them to effectively tackle the security challenges.
– Implement community-based security initiatives that will empower our people to take ownership of their security.
– Provide humanitarian assistance to our people who have been displaced or affected by the insecurity.

WE NEED PROACTIVE INTERVENTION

The situation in Bunu land requires proactive intervention from security agencies and all relevant stakeholders. We cannot afford to wait any longer for the government to act. Our people are dying, and our communities are being destroyed.

WE BELIEVE IN YOUR LEADERSHIP

We believe that with your leadership and commitment to the safety and well-being of our people, we can restore peace and security to Bunu land. We are confident that you will take immediate action to address this security challenge and bring relief to our people.

WE APPEAL TO ALL WELL-MEANING NIGERIANS

We also appeal to all well-meaning Nigerians, civil society organizations, and community leaders to join us in this appeal. Together, we can make a difference and bring peace to Bunu land.
