BY ABUBAKAR YUSUF

The appointment of Princess Zahara Mustapha Audu in January, 2025 to the prestigious position of the Director General, Presidential Enabling Business Environment, PEBEC came with alot of enthusiasm, hope, particularly going by her age , exposure and large resume of experiences both from the public and private sector, locally and globally.

The impression began to manifest less than one year down the line at the mantle of leadership of the highly rated agency charged with the ratings , supervision and qualification of government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies with regards to performance.

The new Director General, determined to achieve brisk results without delay , swung into action through the implementation of the traditional, but this time passionate routine of 120 day tour of crisscrossing the country which consisted of 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory FCT, not to only raise awareness on the business potentials of the country, but to consolidate the need for Nigerians to be conscious of the good intentions of the Renewed Hope Agenda template of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration in the last two years.

As a specialised agency set up by Nigeria’s government to promote businesses of all forms , shades and design, the new leadership has no choice than to consolidate and also injected new wave of administration, which she designed as part of her transformation program.

Conscious of her statutory functions and mandate of the quasi government agency, The Zahara led PEBEC absorbed the supervisory role of bureaucratic process and creation of friendly businesses both locally and internationally , as the core and mode of operations, which will inturn enhance genuine reforms and asymmetrical economic reforms, in line with the current disposition of the present administration.

With the thriving of local businesses of all forms and shades, highly prioritised by the PEBEC, foreign direct investment FDI, attractions and encouragement of local and foreign investors is the bane of it’s operations.

The embarked and stressful 120 day nationwide tour of the agency in collaboration with state governments and by extension the 774 local councils, was carried with the presence of the new leadership seamlessly, an indicator of the determination to promote genuine consciousness of Nigerians both private and public sector to the efficacy and serene environment, geared towards promoting both local and international businesses.

For the leadership of the agency under Zahara Mustapha Audu, redesigning the tour to an annual event with a view to continue to raise the needed consciousness of states and local governments as well as industrious Nigerians at levels will be germane going forward.

The execution of the project by embarking on tour of crisscrossing the states for 120 days , will be not only be sustained, both modernized to conform and compete with modest and modern realities in accordance with the doctrine of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current Nigeria’s leadership.

For the new leadership, crisscrossing states has been part of her routine having served in such position both at political, private and now public service.
