KOGI WEST: WHAT SHOULD BE OUR AGENDA FOR NOW
Pastor Stanley Ajileye
Today in Kogi State, one truth stands firm above every political argument, equity demands that power must rotate to Kogi West after the first tenure of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. This is not a matter of sentiment, but of justice. The people of Kogi West have, in their political journey, supported the Ebira of Kogi Central four times and supported the Igala of Kogi East four times. Yet neither of these two districts has ever united to elect a governor from Kogi West. If fairness has meaning, if justice has balance, then the rightful moment for Kogi West is now.
But politics does not reward silence. Power is not handed over on a platter of gold, it is taken, strategically, intelligently, and decisively. Senator Sunday Karimi expressed it boldly, “You hijack power.” Not with guns or aggression, but with planning, unity, and foresight. This moment demands strategic planning, the work before the real work, because no victory is accidental.
Our failure in the 2023 gubernatorial election was not due to lack of capacity but lack of unified planning. While our adversaries strategized, we walked blindly into a predictable loss. We even saw candidates planted to divide our votes and spoil our chances. It was a planned failure. That mistake cannot be repeated. We must begin the real work now.
In the careful reflection of some of the brightest minds across Kogi West, many of them non politicians, a clear and unanimous choice emerged as the only viable candidate who can truly win for Kogi West, Hon. (Dr.) James Abiodun Faleke. His strengths speak for themselves. His financial capacity is unmatched. His popularity cuts across all three senatorial districts. His goodwill at the national level, across the National Assembly and Federal Executive, gives him the kind of external political backing no other aspirant can command. Faleke is the single candidate whose mere declaration will cause many aspirants to step down. He is the one figure capable of ending the spoiler politics that have crippled Okun aspirations for years.
Yet, Faleke may not be eager to run. His national prospects are far greater than the governorship seat. Coming home to contest would not be an ambition, it would be a sacrifice. A sacrifice for equity, for justice, and for the dignity of Kogi West. That is why this is not the time to wait for him. It is the time to appeal to his conscience as a true Omoluabi, a son of Kogi West who understands the weight of responsibility.
Many people are waiting for Faleke to declare interest before they lend their voices, but that is dangerous. It is our responsibility to make the first move. Our voices must lead. Our pressure must build the momentum. This is our work before the work. This is the moment to declare loudly and proudly across every platform, traditional media, social media, community meetings, WhatsApp groups, church gatherings, and town halls, that we want Faleke for 2027.
Let the cry rise from every corner of Kogi West, Let end all our writings with to he hashtag: *#FalekeAllTheWay.*
This is our time.
This is our opportunity.
This is the moment where unity becomes our greatest weapon.
When equity calls, history listens. When a people speak with one voice, power bends. And when justice aligns with strategy, victory becomes inevitable. Let every son and daughter of Kogi West stand tall and join the movement. The message is clear, the mission is urgent, and the moment is now:
*#FalekeAllTheWay* .
