Osaun Election: FUOYE VC, Prof Ogunwole, Not Arrested By Police

Contrary to fake reports circulating in some social media that the Chief Returning Officer in the just concluded Osun state governorship election, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole had been arrested and detained by the police in Abuja, the Management of Federal University Oye-Ekiti wishes to inform the public to disregard such fake news.

Prof. Ogunwole who is the current Vice Chancellor of Federal University Oye-Ekiti had served as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, declaring the incumbent governor, Mr. Ademola Adeleke as the winner after the conclusion of the election.

He left Oye-Ekiti on Monday to Abuja to attend to some matters affecting the university.

Shockingly, however, some mischief makers went on social media, fabricating a falsehood that the FUOYE Vice Chancellor had been arrested and detained by the police in Abuja on account of his role in the election.

In a release signed by the FUOYE’s Director of Public Affairs and Communication, Dr. Sunday Saanu, the university management maintained that Prof. Ogunwole was never arrested and detained by any security agency, rather, the Vice Chancellor has been going about his duties, working round the clock to reposition the institution.
