OSSAP-SDGs Denies Contract Fraud Allegations, Defends Project Pricing
The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs) has denied allegations of improper contract awards and payments, describing them as fake news, misleading, malicious and a figment of the writers’ imagination.
According to a press statement released by the Head of Communication at OSSAP-SDGs, Jimoh Abdulsalam, the Office conducted due diligence before procurement process were completed.
The Office also explained that although OSSAP-SDGs initiates, processes and uploads payments for works already executed to the government payment portal, the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) is responsible for finalising the payments, subject to the availability of funds.
Similarly, the Office said project costs depend on specifications, quantities and applicable government rates, and that projects with comparable specifications can cost the same even when executed in different locations.
The Office reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, due process and the responsible management of public resources, while urging the media to ensure factual accuracy in their reporting.
