Otunba-Maiyegun Aseremaseka Leads Hundreds to Maiyaki-Led Kogi ADC
A major political shift has emerged in Ijumu Local Government Area as Otunba-Maiyegun Duro Olusegun Aseremaseka mobilized and led hundreds of new supporters into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from Iyamoye/Igbopin/Okealuju Ward, swelling the ranks of the party under the leadership of the Kogi State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Maiyaki.
The new entrants, comprising fresh members and decampees from multiple political parties, were officially received by the Ward Chairman, Hon. Oloruntoba Bolaji. Among the notable defectors was a former PDP Councillorship aspirant, Mallam Mudi Adeyemi, popularly known as Koba Ground.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mr. James Ibimidun stated that their collective decision to join the ADC was driven largely by the performance and leadership style of Rt. Hon. Elder Leke Abejide, the National Leader of the party and representative of Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
“Our move is inspired by results. Elder Abejide has shown capacity in legislation, administration, and grassroots impact. The urged the people of Yagba to support him for a third term, emphasizing that it is not just good for Yagba, but for Okun, Kogi State, and Nigeria as a whole,” Ibimidun said.
Representing Otunba Aseremaseka, Hon. Juliet Olayemi welcomed the new members and assured them that the ADC under Elder Abejide offers a platform anchored on people-focused politics and democratic dividends.
She urged members to maintain support for the Kogi State Government under Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo, calling for synergy between party structures and state institutions in the interest of development and stability.
The new members openly declared their loyalty to the ADC movement and the leadership of Elder Abejide, stating that his visible performance across Yagba Federal Constituency was the major catalyst for their alignment.
“Where Otunba Aseremaseka stands behind Elder Leke Abejide, there we will stand,” they affirmed.
The event marks another boost for the Maiyaki-led ADC structure in Kogi State, as political alignments ahead of future elections continue to take shape at the grassroots.
