Otunba Olayemi Congratulates Karimi on INEC Confirmation, Urges Unity in Kogi West Ahead of 2027

ABUJA, – Community builder and Kogi West advocate, Otunba Adeniyi Olayemi, popularly known as So’Mi Edumare, has congratulated Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi on his confirmation by INEC as the duly recognized Kogi West Senatorial flag bearer for the 2027 general election.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, Olayemi described the confirmation as “a victory for due process, democratic engagement, and the collective aspiration of our people for purposeful representation.”

He also addressed his “brother and friend,” Otunba Samuel Bamidele Aro, who contested for the ticket. Olayemi commended Aro for “your courage, your commitment to Kogi West, and the remarkable mobilization of your supporters.”

“Political contest is a test of ideas, not enmity,” Olayemi said. “I therefore urge you to accept the outcome in good faith and in the larger interest of our district.”

He extended the message to Aro’s supporters, saying: _”To the Aro family and all supporters: your voice matters, your sacrifice is not in vain, and Kogi West still needs your leadership, your experience, and your energy at the table of development.”_
Olayemi called on all sides to “set aside the differences of the contest and embrace the responsibility of building together.”

The community leader also appealed to Senator Karimi and his camp to “extend hands of fellowship and reach out across board in the spirit of reconciliation,” stressing that “a united Kogi West is a stronger Kogi West, and the progress of our land must be bigger than any individual ambition.”

Looking ahead to 2027, Olayemi argued that the district stands to benefit from continuity. He cited Senator Karimi’s experience in the National Assembly and his access at the highest levels of government as key factors that could attract “greater federal presence, more developmental projects, and better opportunities for our youths and communities” during a second term.

Olayemi further urged Nigerians to assess the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, noting that “the bold reforms and interventions of his first term are already yielding results in our communities.” He added that “for stability and consolidation, continuity into a second term will ensure that these gains are sustained and expanded for the benefit of all.”

He closed the statement with a call for collective action: _”For the good of Kogi West, let us build together.”_

Senator Karimi currently represents Kogi West in the National Assembly. INEC’s acknowledgement positions him as the party’s candidate ahead of the 2027 senatorial elections.
