Over 50 Elderly Beneficiaries Receive Support as Amb. Coach Gabriel Abinu Foundation Empowers Residents in Lokoja
No fewer than 50 beneficiaries have received support under the monthly empowerment programme of the Amb. Coach Gabriel Abinu Foundation in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
The beneficiaries, mostly elderly persons aged 60 years and above, expressed deep appreciation to Amb. Coach Gabriel Abinu for his sustained humanitarian interventions and commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable members of society.
Speaking at the fifth edition of the empowerment programme, a representative of the renowned philanthropist, Shaibu Bello, underscored the importance of giving back to society, stressing that collective efforts are required to complement government’s initiatives.
“Giving back to society is a shared responsibility. When individuals contribute their quota, especially at the grassroots, it helps to strengthen social cohesion and reduce hardship among the most vulnerable,” Bello said.
Amb. Coach Gabriel Abinu explained that his passion for humanitarian service was driven by a desire to change prevailing narratives and ensure that vulnerable individuals have a sense of belonging in society.
“This journey of giving back is born out of my desire to make a difference and ensure that the aged and vulnerable are not forgotten. Everyone deserves dignity and a sense of inclusion,” he stated.
He reiterated his commitment to grassroots development, clarifying that the empowerment programme has no political undertone.
“Let me clearly state that this empowerment initiative is not political. It is purely humanitarian. I will continue to contribute my quota to grassroots development in any way I can,” Abinu said.
Reflecting on the impact of the programme, which is now in its sixth edition, Abinu expressed delight at being part of efforts to uplift humanity.
“I am highly delighted to be among those contributing to humanity. We must not leave everything for the government alone. As private individuals, we also have a responsibility to support government policies by giving back to society,” he noted.
He further highlighted previous interventions by his foundation, including the provision of boreholes, youth empowerment initiatives, and support for the elderly and vulnerable.
“It is no longer news that we have been impactful—sinking boreholes, empowering youths and the aged, and ensuring that vulnerable people are not left out. We will continue to do this for as long as we live,” he added.
Congratulating the beneficiaries, Abinu expressed optimism that the initiative would have a lasting impact on their lives.
“I congratulate all the beneficiaries for being part of this humanitarian gesture. We are confident that this support will make a meaningful difference in your lives,” he said.
On the occasion, Amb. Coach Gabriel Abinu also congratulated Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on his recent birthday, praying for long life, good health, and divine wisdom to steer the affairs of the state to greater heights.
