Owe Common Front Reaffirms APC Support, Urges Unity Among Kogi West Leaders Ahead of 2027
The Owe Common Front has reaffirmed its commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) while calling on political leaders in Kogi State and Kogi West to prioritise unity, cooperation and the long-term development of the Owe community.
The group made the position known in a 10-point resolution adopted at its meeting held on Monday, August 31, 2026, and signed by its Chairman, Chief Julius Arokoyo, Obamudi of Oweland, and Secretary, Mr. Augustine Ajibade.
In the resolution, the Owe Common Front said its continued support for the APC would go hand in hand with its commitment to protecting the welfare, unity, development and future of the Owe people.

The group recognised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as the Governor of Kogi State and leader of the APC in the state, while also acknowledging the responsibilities of federal legislators representing Kogi West to advance the interests of their constituents.
It urged political leaders to work together and complement one another despite legitimate differences in political opinions and aspirations.
According to the group, the overlapping responsibilities of the state government and federal representatives should be viewed as an opportunity to attract greater development to the communities rather than as a source of political confrontation.
The Owe Common Front therefore appealed to all political leaders to avoid actions that could place them at cross purposes and deprive communities of the benefits associated with their respective offices, influence and relationships.
2027 Politics: Owe Group Seeks Unity
On the 2027 political process, the group acknowledged existing differences surrounding the governorship and Senate contests but warned against allowing such disagreements to fracture the Owe community.
It stated that political differences should not be allowed to destroy relationships between members of the community and their political leaders.
The group pledged to continue engaging stakeholders respectfully and constructively while awaiting the appropriate time for final political or judicial decisions.
It also identified President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a common factor within the APC political family, noting its support for his return for a second term.
The Owe Common Front urged APC stakeholders to preserve party unity and avoid internal actions capable of weakening the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
‘Our Votes Must Translate Into Development’
A major emphasis of the resolution was the need for political support to produce tangible benefits for the Owe community.
The group said it would engage candidates and political leaders, present legitimate demands and seek clear commitments on issues affecting its people before elections.
It listed record of performance, relationship with the community, accessibility, capacity, character and commitment to development among the factors that would guide its assessment of political candidates.
While declaring that APC remained its preferred political platform, the group acknowledged the democratic right of members to consider credible alternatives.
It stressed that members who are attracted to individuals or platforms demonstrating peace, competence, accessibility and genuine commitment to community development should not automatically be regarded as enemies of the APC.
‘Our Political Relationships Are Community Assets’
The group further called for the preservation of relationships among the Governor, federal legislators, prospective aspirants and other political stakeholders.
It warned against compelling members to regard fellow community stakeholders as enemies merely because of differences in political preferences.
“Our relationships are community assets and must be preserved,” the group stated.
According to the resolution, unity remains essential to strengthening the political bargaining power of the Owe community.
The group therefore resolved to speak with greater unity on issues affecting the community while respecting the legitimate freedom of individual members to hold divergent political opinions.
Owe-First Agenda
In its final resolution, the Owe Common Front declared that it would remain “Owe-first, community-focused and politically responsible.”
The group said its approach would be anchored on peace, dialogue, negotiation and political education rather than confrontation, division, intimidation or unnecessary conflict.
It emphasised that its objective was not to fight individuals or political groups, but to ensure that whoever receives the support of the Owe people understands, respects and advances their legitimate interests.
The group consequently called on all political leaders representing or seeking the support of the Owe and Okun people to work together for the welfare and development of the communities.
It also pledged to remain united and politically vigilant, with its decisions guided by what it described as the long-term interests of the Owe community.
The resolution was adopted on August 31, 2026, and signed by Chief Julius Arokoyo, Obamudi of Oweland, as Chairman, and Mr. Augustine Ajibade, as Secretary, on behalf of the Owe Common Front.
