PBAT Medic Plus, NAFDAC Align to Take Free Healthcare to 100 Federal Constituencies
August 13, 2026

A new push to bring free medical care closer to communities got momentum on August 13, 2026, as the leadership of PBAT Medic Plus Outreach met with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control in Isolo, Lagos. Led by Lead Coordinator Prince Matthew James Avabee, the delegation engaged NAFDAC Director-General Prof. Mojisola Christiana Adeyeye on a strategic partnership to deliver consultations, screenings, medications, and health insurance to underserved Nigerians under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The meeting brought together the PBAT Medic Plus team, South-West Zonal Liaison Officer Hon. Dominic Odigo Shanu, and other zonal committee members with senior NAFDAC directors.

The core of the discussion was how both institutions can work together to scale community-based medical interventions and strengthen regulatory support for outreach activities.

Prince Avabee opened with commendation for Prof. Adeyeye’s leadership in safeguarding Nigeria’s healthcare and regulatory systems.

He said her work mirrors the healthcare objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda, and that PBAT Medic Plus was designed to complement those goals on the ground. He then outlined the initiative’s flagship plan: free medical outreaches across 100 Federal Constituencies.

Each outreach will provide medical consultations, screenings, health education, essential medications, and referrals for cases that require follow-up care.

Beyond the outreaches, the delegation requested NAFDAC’s support for another critical pillar of the program, which is facilitating free health insurance coverage for thousands of older Nigerians.

The aim, Avabee explained, is to reduce out-of-pocket costs for one of the most vulnerable populations and ensure they can access treatment without delay.

Responding, Prof. Adeyeye welcomed the initiative and pledged NAFDAC’s support for efforts that expand access to healthcare services.

She emphasized that sustainable progress will depend on stronger collaboration among government agencies, civil society groups, and community-driven programs. She also reaffirmed the importance of the Federal Government’s healthcare agenda and the role of credible partnerships in delivering results.

As part of the engagement, the PBAT Medic Plus team formally invited the NAFDAC Director-General and agency officials to the organization’s forthcoming Grand Unveiling Ceremony. The event will officially launch the initiative and kick off its nationwide healthcare intervention program.

Both sides described the meeting as a key step toward a stronger working relationship. With NAFDAC’s regulatory guidance and PBAT Medic Plus’ community reach, the partnership is positioned to help deliver accessible and quality healthcare to more Nigerians, constituency by constituency.
