PDP holds state congress in Kano

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Kano is currently holding its state congress at the Sabon Gari Stadium to elect new executive officers.
Democracy Newsline reports that the congress is under the leadership of the Kano state PDP caretaker chairman, Mai Adamu Mustapha with party leaders, elders, delegates, and supporters, as well as the representatives from the PDP national body and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
More than 45 candidates are vying for the 39 available positions in the state executive council, marking it an intense contest to steer the future of the party in the state.
According to Halilu Abubakar, the chairman of the election committee from the PDP national headquarters, the party has made thorough arrangements to ensure a smooth and transparent election process.
PDP National Vice Chairman for the North West zone, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo lauded the successful conduct of the preceding ward and local government congresses.
Gwarzo expressed confidence that the state congress would be equally well-organized, with over 5,000 delegates expected to participate in the election of new state leaders.
The former Senator representing Kano North added that “We are fully prepared for this congress, and PDP Kano is on the right track. Our goal is clear, we are ready to take over Kano and Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.”
In a show of party unity, Former Kano State Governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, represented at the congress by Alhaji Umar Musa Mustapha, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the congress.
He assured that the party would rally behind the newly elected leaders and immediately begin preparing for the 2027 general elections.
