Profiling Lagos Deputy Governor , Dr Obafemi Hamzat

Dr Obafemi Hamzat was elected Deputy Governor of Lagos State in 2019 and also reelected along with the governor, Babajide Sanwolu in 2023.

Having maintained cordiality, maturity and seamless leadership traits , he enjoyed the cooperation of the Governor in the last six years , unlike what is obtainable in other states.

Hamzat , a notable educationist, consultant with recognized experience in training and retraining in specialized, quasi government and private sector activities, his experiences in that area exposed him to many areas .

He got his PhD at 27 in his quest to pursue his career in education, and remained the first student from the Systems Engineering department of Crane field University to complete their PhD in uninterrupted three years.

Aside politics , business and facilitations, he became and adjunct Professor – College of New Rochelle, in New York, United States of America and also in Columbia University, New York.

Obafemi rose to become Case Manager – City of New York, and HR Administration, New York.

He was also employed as System Process Engineer and Lead Consultant – Citibank Headquaters in New York, as well senior associate, PC Engineering – Morgan Stanley Headquarters.

He rose to Vice President, Core Technology Support Group – Merrill Lynch, New York and also Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Group Head, IT Strategy – Oando Plc before joining politician .

Owing to his distinct performance both in the public and private organizations, he is regarded as a “A great and recognized Olivetian.”

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State is highly favored for the next plum job as Governor of Lagos State, owing to his in-depth wealth of experience and exposure.
