He paid tribute to the men and women whose sacrifices helped entrench democracy in Nigeria, noting that their courage and determination continue to inspire efforts toward building a more inclusive and progressive nation.

According to him, Democracy Day offers an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the country’s democratic evolution and recommit themselves to the ideals of good governance and active citizenship.

“Today, we pay tribute to the heroes and heroines who made sacrifices for the democracy we enjoy. Their courage and determination continue to inspire us to build a nation where every citizen can contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.

The member acknowledged that Nigeria is currently undergoing significant economic and institutional reforms under President Tinubu, noting that while the measures may present temporary hardships, citizens should remain confident in the process.

According to him, sustainable national transformation often demands sacrifice, patience and resilience from both leaders and citizens. He maintained that the administration’s policies are designed to build a more stable economy capable of creating opportunities for current and future generations.

“As we reflect on our democratic journey, it is important to acknowledge that Nigeria is currently undergoing critical reforms under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. While these reforms may present temporary challenges, Nigerians should not lose faith in the process.”
He added that history has shown that meaningful progress in many successful nations was achieved through difficult but necessary reforms.

In his democracy message to commemorate the June 12 Democracy Day, Abejide expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future and called on citizens to remain hopeful despite prevailing challenges.

He prayed for enduring peace, stability, and prosperity for the country, expressing confidence that Nigeria would continue to advance under democratic governance.
