RETSO: First Lady’s Taraba Visit Boosts Healthcare and Women’s Empowerment in Nigeria

Senator Remi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, has demonstrated her commitment to healthcare and women empowerment with a significant visit to Taraba State.

Warmly received by Governor Agbu Kefas and his wife, Mrs. Agayin Kefas, in Jalingo, Senator Tinubu flagged off the distribution of professional kits to midwives across the North East under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

The Renewed Hope Initiative is providing 60,000 branded scrubs and 60,000 crocs to support midwives, complementing the Federal Government’s retraining of 120,000 frontline health workers nationwide. This effort aims to improve healthcare delivery and reduce maternal mortality rates.

The First Lady who was accompanied by the Convener of Remi Tinubu Support Organisations (RETSO) Dr Ramatu Tijani CON was warmly received by the people across party divide.
During her visit, the First Lady announced a N50 million grant to support 1,000 women petty traders in Taraba, matched by the State Government. This initiative is designed to boost the economic prospects of these women and enhance their livelihoods.

In a meeting with the Taraba State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, led by the Aku Uka of Wukari, Senator Remi Tinubu sought their support in the renewed campaign against HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, Syphilis, and Tuberculosis. This effort is part of a broader mission to improve public health and reduce the prevalence of these diseases.

The visit of Senator Remi Tinubu revealed her administration’s commitment to ensuring no woman loses her life giving life. The Renewed Hope Initiative is working tirelessly to provide compassion, tools, and teamwork to achieve this goal. The First Lady’s efforts have been recognized by various organizations, including the Nigeria Youth Organisation, which has praised her women empowerment initiatives.

This visit and the initiatives launched will significantly boost President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. The Renewed Hope Initiative’s focus on healthcare, women empowerment, and economic development aligns with the needs and aspirations of many Nigerians, potentially increasing support for the President’s second term. A recent event in the North, dubbed “We Stand with Tinubu and Kauran Gwandu,” demonstrated growing support for Tinubu’s re-election, with attendees expressing satisfaction with his administration’s performance so far.
