Rev Eyoanwan Otu Girls In STEM Project expands across Cross River
The Rev Eyoanwan Otu Girls in STEM Project launched by the wife of Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu, the Governor of Cross River State, and designed to empower future innovators among young girls in secondary schools, has expanded across the state with over 3,000 beneficiaries so far.
Initiated last year by the Cross River first lady, the program which has a curriculum that encompasses key areas such as Robotics, Basic Computing, Coding, and Gaming, is equally meant to trigger interest, curiosity and enthusiasm for the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among young female students at the secondary school level.
A post on the facebook page of the Office of the wife of the Cross River State Governor, made to give an update on the Rev Eyoanwan Otu Girls in STEM project, a visionary effort of the first lady coordinated by the Guru Innovation Hub, reads:
“Her Excellency, Bishop, Dr. (Mrs.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, is championing the future of young girls in Cross River State with the Girls in STEM Project, a transformative initiative aimed at building skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
“Over 3,000 young girls have already benefited from this program, gaining hands-on experience to become tomorrow’s innovators in the evolving tech-world.
“As the project continues to flourish, it now prepares to extend its impact to more regions, with Biase and Ogoja Local Government Areas next in line.
“Join us in celebrating this bold step towards a brighter, tech-driven future for our young women as all and sundry are implored and encouraged to cease this golden opportunity.”
Girls In STEM scheme launched in pursuit of the realization of her vision to engage and educate secondary school girls on STEM, and empower young girls to break barriers for the future, is just one of the numerous empowerment programmes and projects initiated by Rev Eyoanwan Otu to support the current administration in Cross River ably and competently led by her hubby.
