SDP Candidate, Ibiejemite Pledges Robust Representation for Kabba-Bunu I Constituency
SDP Assembly Candidate Makes Commitment During Consultation Visit to Igbimo Atuluse in Kabba
Pastor John Ibiejemite, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Kabba-Bunu State Constituency I in the 2027 general elections, has pledged to provide robust legislative representation and champion initiatives that will promote the welfare and development of his constituents.
Ibiejemite made the pledge during a strategic consultation visit to the leadership and members of Igbimo Atuluse at the association’s headquarters in Kabba, Kogi State.
The visit formed part of his ongoing community listening tour, aimed at engaging grassroots organisations, understanding the challenges confronting residents and building partnerships to promote sustainable development across the constituency.
Addressing members of the association, the SDP candidate described Igbimo Atuluse as an important pillar of the local economy and social fabric, stressing the need for policies and legislative interventions that would support its members and other residents.
He pledged that, if elected into the Kogi State House of Assembly, he would sponsor bills and carry out oversight functions that would protect the interests of his constituents and promote their economic and social well-being.
“I did not come here today just to ask for your votes; I came to build a partnership that will outlast the election. Your struggles with access to credit and infrastructure are my priorities.
“As your representative, my office will be a vehicle for your collective growth,” Ibiejemite said.
He also emphasised the importance of regular engagement with community-based organisations, noting that effective representation requires listening to the people and incorporating their concerns into legislative priorities.
Responding on behalf of Igbimo Atuluse, the association’s President, Hon. Segun Modeyin, Esq., expressed appreciation to the candidate for the visit, describing it as an indication of his willingness to engage directly with grassroots stakeholders.
Modeyin acknowledged Ibiejemite’s community service record and commended him for taking time to consult with the association and listen to the concerns of its members.
“We are deeply honoured by this visit. It shows that Ibiejemite respects our association and understands our contributions to this constituency.
“We have heard the vision, and we are confident in his capacity to deliver true representation,” Modeyin stated.
The meeting featured an interactive question-and-answer session during which members raised concerns about insecurity, youth empowerment and other development challenges affecting the constituency.
The discussions provided an opportunity for the candidate to hear directly from members of the association and exchange views on possible approaches to addressing the issues raised.
The visit concluded with the formal presentation of an Igbimo Atuluse face cap to Ibiejemite as a gesture of recognition.
The SDP candidate also agreed to participate in a proposed Political Debate and Manifesto Night to be organised by Igbimo Atuluse for candidates contesting the Kogi State House of Assembly seat for Kabba-Bunu State Constituency I in the 2027 general elections.
The proposed debate is expected to provide a platform for candidates to present their manifestos, explain their legislative priorities and respond to questions from members of the association ahead of the election.
