SDP commends electoral body, as KOSIEC releases list of Candidates for Council polls

The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, (KOSIEC) on Tuesday released the preliminary list of candidates who were cleared by their political parties to partake in the upcoming Local Government elections in October 2024.

It was gathered that the electoral body unveil the list of Candidates
in fulfillment of its responsibilities towards the culmination of the process.

Among the list of prospective candidates of political parties, the Socal Democratic Party, (SDP) list was not left out as well.

Speaking shortly after confirming the authenticity of the list released by KOSIEC on Tuesday, the Kogi State Chairman of SDP Hon Moses Peter Oricha commended the electoral body for a job well done urging them to continue to work for the betterment of the state and its electoral system.

While re-emphasizing his commitment to the tenets of SDP, Hon. Oricha called on all the candidates who made the list to be pertinacious and persevere until the race is won.

He further enjoined them to commit all their resources in the race so as to come out victorious for the party and represent the people with human face.

Hon. Oricha reassured the candidates that his list was the authentic list recognized by KOSIEC as evidenced by a stamped document handed over to him directly by the commission in charge of documentation.

The Kogi SDP Chairman, however, admonished Kogites to disassociate themselves from the Sam Abenemi led group, noting that, they are not recognized by the state electoral body.

“Am using this medium to call on all aspirants who have been allegedly defrauded by the Sam Abenemi led group to approach the relevant authorities to make their demands and claim their monies”.

It could be recalled that the Kogi State SDP Chairman had raised alarm against some elements who he considered as foreigners causing confusion within the party.

According to him, some group of individuals are using the name of the party to satisfy their selfish interest and avarice by shortchanging the public of their hard earned resources promising them KOSIEC forms for the forthcoming council polls.

The Kogi State Local Government election is scheduled to hold on 19th October 2024 with a promise by KOSIEC that it will be a free, fair and credible exercise.
