Senator Abubakar Sadiku Ohere, FNSE, has publicly declared his full support for former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, following Bello’s announcement to contest for the Kogi Central Senatorial District seat in the 2027 elections.

Speaking in a widely circulated statement, Senator Ohere expressed deep gratitude to his friends, supporters, and political followers for their unwavering loyalty through what he described as both “smooth and rough seasons.” He emphasized that their trust and steadfastness have strengthened his resolve throughout his political journey.

Reacting to the former governor’s decision to join the 2027 senatorial race, Senator Ohere described the move as timely, strategic, and crucial for the political stability and development of Kogi Central.
“Kogi Central needs Alhaji Yahaya Bello at this time. It needs his courage, his political weight, his experience, and his capacity to confront challenges head-on. This is not just another contest; it is a defining moment,” he said.

While acknowledging that Bello’s declaration may have surprised some political observers, Senator Ohere maintained that leadership is driven by responsibility and service, not sentiment. He called on political stakeholders to see the development as a clarion call for unity, inclusion, and strategic engagement.

The senator urged his supporters and political structure across the district to brace up for what he described as a “collective journey” and commit to broad mobilisation, including winning over sceptical voices.
“I will deploy all my political weight, structure, and goodwill in support of this cause. Let us close ranks, reach out beyond familiar lines, and work together for a greater collective victory,” he stated.
Senator Ohere also clarified that he remains calm and confident about his own political future, noting that politics is a long-term venture with evolving seasons and opportunities. He reaffirmed his respect and loyalty to Yahaya Bello, whom he credited for mentorship and continuous support.
He concluded with a call for unity and resilience among his supporters, stating that the future remains bright for Kogi Central.
