Sen. Ohere Seeks FG Intervention In Etahi, Osochiokodo, Oguda, other Erosion prone Communities in Kogi Central.

Sen. Abubakar Ohere, Representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has today drawn the attention of the Federal Government to the devastating effect of erosion in some Communities of the Senatorial District of the State.

Sen. Ohere speaking to Newsmen on the sidelines after today’s plenary, sought the attention of the Federal Government on the ravaging effect of erosion In Etahi, Osochiokodo, Oguda and other Erosion prone Communities in Kogi Central.

Sen. Ohere called for a wholistic intervention on the part of the federal government to the plights of people living in erosion prone communities in Kogi Central, explaining that lands, buildings and properties have been washed away by erosion.

The Senator desclosed that Kogi State by it Central location in the country makes it vulnerable to flooding, consequently leading to erosion in Lokoja, Ajaokuta and in some other Local Government Areas.

The Lawmaker called for an urgent intervention by President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to the devastation, expressed concerns over the unquantifiable losses suffered by the people of Kogi Central, with some living in neighbouring communities of Edo State.

While Sen. Ohere expressed optimism that with the directive by the Senate to the Nigerian Ecological office for a wholistic study to be carried out on communities affected by erosion in the Country, said after critical analysis, would allow intervention of the Federal Government.

The Senate at today’s plenary debated on a motion on the devastating effect of erosion in the country, with Sen. Ohere Representing Kogi Central calling for erosion control In Etahi, Osochiokodo, Oguda and other Erosion Prone Communities in Kogi Central Senatorial District.
