Kogi Assembly Speaker celebrates with Muslims over New Islamic Lunar Calendar, 1445
The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Umar Aliyu Yusuf has expressed joy over the new Islamic Lunar Calendar 1445 marking the turn of a new Hijrah for Muslims worldwide.
He stated this in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed where he congratulated Islamic faithful across Kogi State and prayed Allah to grant them the blessings contained in it.
The Speaker, who enjoined Muslims to continue to foster unity and love in the society, said Islam enjoins its adherents to always preach the gospel of peace, togetherness, and empathy, virtues that should be entrenched in the hearts of believers at all times.
In his words, “As the new Islamic calendar year begins, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and warmest wishes to you and the entire Muslim community across Kogi State. Alhamdulillah, we have been blessed with another year, and this auspicious occasion marks a time for reflection, renewal, and gratitude.
“The Islamic New Year, also known as Hijri New Year, is a momentous time to remember the Hijrah, the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Makkah to Madina, and the establishment of the Islamic lunar calendar. It is a time to ponder on the significance of this journey and draw inspiration from the Prophet’s courage, determination, and unwavering faith in Allah.
“As we embrace the new year, let us strive to strengthen our connection with Allah, seek His guidance, and practice the principles of Islam in our daily lives. May this year bring us closer to understanding and implementing the teachings of the Holy Quran and following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
“Let us use this opportunity to foster unity, compassion, and empathy among one another. Reach out to those in need, offer a helping hand to the less fortunate, and spread love and kindness throughout our communities.
“During this time of spiritual reflection, may we find solace and inner peace in our prayers and acts of worship. Let us remember those who have passed away and keep them in our prayers, cherishing the memories of their love and teachings.
“As we embark on this new chapter, I pray that Allah showers His countless blessings upon you and your loved ones. May He grant you good health, success in your endeavors, and happiness in every aspect of your life.
“May the new Islamic Year be filled with abundant blessings, wisdom, and growth opportunities. May it draw us closer to Allah and lead us on the path of righteousness.”
