Senate President Open Tennis Championship, tag Senator Godswill Akpabio’s Cup Set to Kick Off

The Senate President National Open Lawn Tennis Championship tags Senator Godswill Akpabio’s Cup is scheduled to take place from October 4 to October 11, 2025.

According to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), under the chairman of Senator Ned Nwoko, the championship will be organized by Africa Sports Management Nigeria Limited in collaboration with the Nigeria Tennis Federation.

The event aims to promote tennis development in Nigeria, provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills, and encourage a healthy lifestyle among Nigerians.

He said the tournament will feature six categories, each designed to promote tennis development and provide opportunities for athletes of different ages and abilities to participate.

The categories include:

– Men: Open to male & Doubles
– Women singles & Doubles:
– Mixed Doubles:
– Wheelchair
– Veteran: players above aged 45 and above
– Under-16 Boys and Girls invitational.

The Senate President National Open Lawn Tennis Championship aims to promote tennis development in Nigeria and provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills. The tournament also seeks to encourage a healthy lifestyle among Nigerians and promote the development of tennis in the country.

The event is expected to attract top tennis players from across Nigeria and beyond, providing a unique opportunity for athletes to compete against each other and gain valuable experience.

The tournament will also serve as a platform for tennis enthusiasts to come together and celebrate their love for the sport.

The LOC also calls for sponsorship from the private sector, tennis lovers, and well-meaning individuals to sponsor the event, which promises to discover talented athletes who would be exposed to international tournaments to broaden their exposure.
