Senator Karimi Congratulates Prof. Amupitan’s Historic INEC Appointment, Lauds President Tinubu’s Vision

The senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sen Sunday Steve Karimi has expressed his congratulatory message to the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Prof Joash Amupitan SAN. Yesterday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed The Aiyetoro Gbede born erudite scholar and distinguished legal practitioner whose appointment was unanimously approved by the Council of State as required by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The appointee will thereafter be presented to the Senate for confirmation as the final stage of the appointment process.

Senator Sunday Karimi appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for appointing a distinguished son of Kogi State from Kogi West, North Central of Nigeria, the very first of its kind since the independence.

The Senator described the appointment as a reflection of the President’s commitment to fairness and inclusivity, which also underscores his dedication to ensuring that all regions are well carried along in the Nigeria project for a “Renewed Hope”.

Senator Sunday Karimi affirmed his unyielding trust in Prof. Amupitan and that Prof. Amupitan will deliver exceedingly in this new role and build a legacy that all Nigerians would be proud of – even as he challenged him to bring a fresh perspective and expertise to the commission that will strengthen Nigeria’s Electoral System.

The Senator prays that God should grant Prof. Amupitan wisdom, guidance, and divine strength to excel in his new role.
