Senator Karimi Delivers Six Transformers to Kogi West Communities, Pledges Lasting Solution to Power Crisis
By Our Correspondent
Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has announced the delivery of six new transformers to communities across the district, bringing the total number of transformers delivered under the initiative to 28.
Karimi disclosed that the latest batch of six transformers was delivered this week to Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area; Cantonment Area in Lokoja; Egbe in Yagba West; Ilah Bunu and Odolu in Kabba-Bunu; and Igbagun in Yagba East.
The senator said the intervention was part of his commitment to improving electricity supply, supporting local businesses and strengthening economic activities across communities in Kogi West.
According to him, 22 transformers had earlier been delivered across the seven local government areas of the senatorial district, while the additional six were intended to address some of the electricity infrastructure challenges confronting the people.
“During our campaigns in 2022, I promised to ensure that every available opportunity is pursued and brought back home for the use and development of our people,” Karimi stated.
He explained that his engagements with residents at the grassroots had revealed that several communities were experiencing varying degrees of power outages due to inadequate electricity infrastructure.
The senator noted that access to reliable electricity was essential for improving livelihoods, enhancing business operations, stimulating the local economy and supporting government agencies in delivering services.
Karimi said his intervention was aimed at addressing these challenges and fulfilling his commitment to bringing development closer to the people.
He also reaffirmed his determination to continue engaging relevant stakeholders to address the persistent electricity crisis affecting communities in the Yagba axis of the district.
According to him, he had received assurances that the root cause of the power problem would be addressed to provide a lasting solution.
“I will not stop until it is achieved and stable power returns to homes in Idofin, Ogbe, Ogbom, Ayede, Orokere, Takete-Ide, Iluke, Idoyi, Ayeh, and every community in Kogi West,” he said.
The senator maintained that he would sustain his efforts to ensure that the affected communities regained stable electricity, stressing that the issue required continued engagement with the relevant authorities and stakeholders.
Looking ahead, Karimi expressed optimism about delivering more development projects and interventions in the district, saying he intended to do more in the next term with the support of the people.
“We are just getting started. I will do even more in the next term by God’s grace and with your support,” he added.
The latest transformer delivery comes amid calls by residents and businesses in parts of Kogi West for improved electricity infrastructure to support economic activities and enhance living conditions.
