Senator Raises Alarm Over Security, Meets Constituents in Birnin Kebbi, Pledges Tougher Advocacy.

BIRNIN KEBBI — The Senator representing Kebbi South Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has vowed to intensify his advocacy for improved security, infrastructure and socio-economic development in the senatorial district. Maidoki made the pledge during a stakeholders’ and constituents’ meeting in Birnin Kebbi, where residents from the various Local Government Areas that make up Kebbi South converged to engage with their representative on issues affecting their communities.
The meeting provided a platform for the Senator and his constituents to exchange views on the security situation in the district, developmental challenges and the need for stronger political participation and representation at the national level.

Maidoki, while addressing the gathering, declared that there could be no meaningful development without adequate security and peace, stressing that the protection of lives and property must remain a priority if communities are to prosper.
He expressed concern over the security challenges confronting some vulnerable communities in Kebbi South and disclosed that he had been engaging relevant Federal Government authorities on the need to increase security presence and support in affected areas.
The Senator, however, lamented that despite the engagements and representations made so far, the expected level of intervention had yet to be achieved.
He said he would not relent in drawing the attention of the appropriate authorities to the security needs of his constituents, promising to continue pushing for concrete action capable of protecting communities and creating an atmosphere conducive to development.
According to him, security is not only about protecting lives and property but also about creating the conditions necessary for economic activities, education, healthcare delivery and other forms of development to thrive.
The meeting also witnessed discussions on several pressing developmental challenges confronting residents across Kebbi South.
Among the issues raised were the state of education, healthcare services, access to potable water, road infrastructure, youth opportunities and other basic social amenities.
Constituents used the opportunity to draw the Senator’s attention to challenges affecting their respective communities, seeking greater intervention and representation at both the state and federal levels.
Responding to the concerns, Maidoki said effective representation must begin with listening to the people and understanding the challenges they face. He assured the gathering that the concerns raised would continue to form part of his advocacy and engagements with relevant government institutions.The Senator emphasized the need to identify development projects that would have direct and sustainable impact on the lives of the people, particularly in areas where basic infrastructure remains inadequate.
Maidoki Seeks Stronger Political Voice
The Senator also called for greater political participation among the people of Kebbi South, urging constituents to take a more active role in democratic processes.
He stressed that the district must strengthen its collective voice at the national level in order to attract greater attention to its developmental needs and aspirations. He further reaffirmed his commitment to facilitating developmental projects and support programmes for his constituents, saying his responsibility goes beyond occupying a seat at the National Assembly. He described regular consultation with the people as essential to effective representation, adding that direct interaction with constituents enables political representatives to better understand grassroots realities.
