Senator Sunday Karimi Setting A New Record of Representation in Kogi West

Democracynewsline

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District and Chairman, Committee on Senate Services in the National Assembly, Sunday Steve Karimi is setting a new record of representation through his developmental initiatives, providing equal representation for all the 85 wards in the senatorial district, an unprecedented achievement.

There is no gainsaying that the Egbe-born trained engineer turned politician is the first representative of the district that has been consistent in reaching out to the zone through all the political wards touching virtually all the communities and people of the area.

He started even before he was elected into the 10th National Assembly to represent the district distributing rice, semovita, drilling boreholes, donating generously to community development, groups and individuals who were in need, hence making him a man of empathy.

It is also good to note his giant strides in uplifting the region through developmental driven initiatives in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economics to reposition the area and the people.

One of his standout projects recently is the provision of portable water by drilling boreholes in the 85 wards and rehabilitation of others worth over 1.2 billion naira, a project that have since been completed in most of the local government areas in Kogi West.

The re-construction of the Pakuta Bridge in Akutupa Kiri, to enhance connectivity and boost economic activities in the area. The bridge project addresses a long-standing need, facilitating trade and movement for residents. The Olu-Kiri of Kiri Land, along with his council, has continued to express his appreciation for this impactful development, highlighting its benefits for the community.

The Egbe Military Forward Operation Base commissioned and handed over to the military few months ago to support the security architecture of Kogi State and neighbouring states of Kwara, Ekiti, Osun courtesy of Senator Karimi is another laudable achievements.

Senator Karimi has also made notable contributions to healthcare and education. He recently donated 11 million naira to support the Ijumu Anglican Diocese’s Nursing School project and other church development activities. By investing in this nursing school, he aims to improve healthcare accessibility and train future healthcare professionals for Kogi West. The project promises to offer valuable skills to the youth, setting a foundation for a healthier community.

During the donation ceremony, various dignitaries, including traditional rulers, former government officials, and industry representatives, gathered to commend Senator Karimi’s efforts. Their attendance reflects the respect and high regard he enjoys not only among his constituents but also across different sectors of the state and in the country.

Beyond infrastructure and healthcare, Senator Karimi has also shown to be a man of empathy as displayed by his visit and donation of 10 million naira to Kupa to commiserate with the families of those that lost their lives in a boat mishap that claimed almost 200 lives who are predominantly market women from Kupa community in Lokoja local government.

Senator Karimi also intervened in the provision of electrical transformers to boost the electricity supply, for his constituents to have access to electricity.

He has also focused on empowering rural communities, particularly youth, women, and small business owners in agriculture through supply of fertilizer, chemicals and farm implements.

The grassroots approach of his leadership has truly distinguished him among others which emphasizes the importance of offering equal opportunities for all, laying the groundwork for meaningful development across board.

Even as the year draws to a close, it is imperative to note that the people’s senator has made enough provisions to support his constituents with rice and other food items to celebrate the yuletide season.

The impact of his works are evident in the improved infrastructure, healthcare access, and increased opportunities for his constituents, no wonder his being honored by reputation organizations, including Democracy Newsline Newspaper Award as the best performing Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2024

Going forward there is a renewed assurance that Senator Karimi will continue on the trajectory of all-inclusive representation that will propel the upgrading of the infrastructures that will impact virtually all sectors across the seven local government areas of Kogi West.
