SPEAKERS CHAIRMAN CONGRATULATES SPEAKERS OF CROSS RIVER, ADAMAWA, AKWA IBOM, FOR WINNING SENATE SEATS

Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria and Speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman has congratulated Speaker of Cross Rivers State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Eteng Williams, Speaker of Adamawa State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas and Speaker Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey for winning Senate seats in the recently concluded Presidential and National Assembly election.

In a congratulatory message to celebrate their victory, the Chairman said that the Conference of Speakers is thrilled about the great feat achieved by the Speakers during the polls.

“Speaker Cross Rivers Rt. Hon. Eteng Williams is a man of God who dedicated his entire life to the service of God, his Constituency, his dear State and the Country at large. It’s not surprising that the people of Cross Rivers Central have decided to reward his selfless service with massive votes which saw him overwhelmingly winning the Senate seats.

“This is another great opportunity to do more to your people and to contribute more in the national discourse and nation building as you have been doing at the Conference of Speakers. We congratulate you and thank people of your Constituency for voting you.” He said.

The Chairman stated that “I have worked for quite awhile with Speaker of Adamawa State Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas and I can unequivocally said that he is more of a national asset, thus his election to the Senate is just like putting a round peg in a round hole. We are all happy about this great achievement.

“Speaker Iya Abbas is a bold, resourceful, strong and a knowledgeable politician who is versed in the art of governance and legislation. His election can’t come at a better time because this is the time that his State and the Country at large are in need of persons of proven character and experience like him to chart a new map for peace, unity, progress and secure Nigeria.”

Speaking on the victory of Akwa Ibom Speaker to clinch the Senate seat, the Chairman explained that “Akwai Ibom Speaker Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey is more than a colleague to all of us at the Conference but partner and great ally in Nigeria’s project. He has exhibited high sense of responsibility and patriotism in our Forum and elsewhere.

“Electing him as a Senator, is like doing Nigeria a favour, because he is the type of people that will make great impact in the Senate, looking at his track record in his Constituency and his State. We thank and commend the good people of Akwa Ibom for this honour to our colleague and friend and we are sure he won’t fail you.”

While praying for a successful tenure to the Senators-elect, the Chairman urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by using their legislative experience to positively contribute in the Senate.

Signed:
Abdul Ahmad Burra
Spokesperson to the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly.
