TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION: CONTRADICTIONS IN KOGI STATE
Pastor Stanley Ajileye
Are those who profess loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu genuinely working for his re-election, or is political pretence undermining the project in Kogi State?
The Win With Tinubu (WWT) Grassroots Mobilisation Programme recently held its town hall meeting in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area, after earlier meetings in Idah and Ankpa.
The initiative, led by Senator Sunday Steve Karimi and Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, aims to strengthen grassroots support for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election.
However, reports surrounding the Anyigba meeting have raised concerns. A directive reportedly restricted movement within the local government, while a scheduled visit to the traditional ruler was cancelled. But for the determination of the people of Federal constituency, these developments would have created uncertainty around what should was straightforward political engagement.
Were these decisions based on genuine security or administrative concerns, or did political differences play a role? The relevant authorities should clarify the circumstances.
Kogi State is governed by the APC, the same party leading the Federal Government. Support for President Tinubu’s re-election is widely proclaimed, and the WWT is one of the groups mobilising support for that objective.
An APC-led government should ordinarily support or accommodate lawful initiatives pursuing the same goal. When such initiatives encounter unexplained obstacles, questions about political sincerity naturally arise.
Are some stakeholders genuinely committed to Tinubu’s re-election, or are they using the President’s name while protecting personal interests and political territories?
Not every administrative decision should be interpreted as interference. However, public declarations of loyalty must be matched by conduct.
Senator Karimi’s involvement adds another dimension to the controversy. If political differences exist between him and other stakeholders, they should be addressed through dialogue.
Must every initiative associated with Karimi become controversial? Should a programme supporting President Tinubu face difficulties simply because he is involved?
If there are genuine security or administrative reasons for the reported restrictions, they should be clearly communicated. But if political rivalry is obstructing legitimate mobilisation, the damage extends beyond the individuals involved and affects the credibility of the re-election effort.
President Tinubu depends on political structures and individuals to engage the grassroots. Why should one mobilisation group become a source of conflict within the same political family?
Nobody should be accused of sabotage without evidence. Yet legitimate questions about apparent contradictions should not be dismissed.
If the APC in Kogi State is united behind President Tinubu, that unity should be reflected in cooperation, respect for lawful political activities, and responsible conflict resolution.
The people of Kogi State deserve transparency and consistency. The reported developments in Anyigba should be explained, and political disagreements should not be allowed to undermine a shared objective.
The central question remains: Are we truly working for Tinubu, or merely pretending while pursuing interests that may undermine his re-election?
Loyalty is not established by repeated declarations. It is demonstrated through consistent action.
IF WE ARE ALL WORKING FOR TINUBU, LET OUR ACTIONS PROVE IT.
